When a business is on a growth path and there are some exciting new projects on the horizon, it's essential that the next new employee (A competent QS) is able to relate to the business culture and the role. The everyday QS with volume housebuilding experience is not quite the kind of QS I'd like to attract for this role. In fact, it's essential that the level of experience should be in the High-end residential markets.Being particular about making sure people fit into the business culture is so important. What a great place to work for someone who wants to map out their career leading to head of department on a progressive and supported journey.SeniorQS.co.uk

When I put out an open interview call, I did not expect this.In the 28-odd years of working across kitchens, one thing has always bugged me: how the restaurant industry has been labelled “toxic” and “harsh”.While there are nuances to the topic, when I started my entrepreneurial journey - all I wanted was to create a new work culture. A culture where we work together as a diverse team of men, women, young, old, experienced, trainees - a good, balanced bunch.Over the years, I have acknowledged the ground reality of how the industry works: inconsistent hiring, lack of transparency in the process, and a general sense of disrespect to the candidates, and taking them for granted.I want to do my part in changing it.Since this was an open interview call - we could not have predicted the number of candidates. We were expecting a candidate pool of about 250-300, but to my surprise, the final count was upwards of 1000!All we could have done was make sure we had a solid plan: - A 25-member organizing team was set up.- Created a complete registration process with QR code access.(separate for all the departments: Chefs, Service, Accounts, Housekeeping)- Quick shortlisting process so that people don’t have to wait on a hot day.- 2 rounds of interviews with Senior management. This was not an easy task at all: all my teammates were at the venue by 5 AM, making sure everything was in place before the candidates came in. They made sure that all queries were answered and accommodated till the very last interview wrapped up at 6 in the evening. All of this would not have been possible without my team.I am extremely thankful to all of them - and to every single candidate who showed up for the interview. For people who get into the RCP family, looking forward to working with you soon, and for people who might not make it - we will be prioritising you for all our upcoming projects. Keep trying, and don’t give up!If a 17-year-old kid with no college degree can make it, so can you.Just make sure you believe in yourself: the dots will connect somehow. As always, keep spreading happiness!💕-Chef Pillai.#Restaurants #Hospitality #Hiring #Recruitment

We don’t need to tell you...Hiring hotel staff is really, really tough at the moment. Struggling to fill your open positions? Run through this checklist of different places to find good people: 1️⃣Your hotel: is there anyone due for a promotion, or ready to take on new responsibilities? 2️⃣Your hotel staff’s connections: can anyone make a referral? Tip: you can build this into a referral programme with an incentive for anyone who recommends a successful candidate. 3️⃣Your local university: students are often cash-poor and time-rich. Perfect for that difficult-to-hire-for position you haven’t managed to hire for. 4️⃣Social media: you can’t expect people to know you’re hiring if you don’t shout about it. If a potential applicant doesn’t see the post, someone who knows them might. 5️⃣Your network: ask others who do your job. People love to help other people, and you’ll feel confident about anyone you’re introduced to. #hospitalitytech #hiring #staffing
