A truly hidden gem in Manhattan. One of the best cheeseburgers in town can be found here along with crispy crinkle cut fries. For a treat - mix the ketchup with the home made green sauce to dip your fries in. The Taylor Special for the hungry person is a real meal. A personal favorite is the chicken tacos with white flour shell. Or while you're having the white flour tacos, try the fish taco. Another favorite of mine, possibly the best fish taco in town.Dec 22 2023Still the best cheeseburger deal in Manhattan. The white flour fish tacos are fantastic as well.

4.5 stars based on 2 visits. They sure love their shredded American cheese haha. The burger special I definitely recommend. A good burger. I wish they have more authentic Mexican options with meats and the like. But good place nonetheless! 😌

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND $$$!!! NOTHING AUTHENTIC ABOUT THIS MEXICAN RESTAURANT!!!Ordered a combo#4 chicken enchilada, beef crispy taco, rice and beans with a coffee. The corn tortilla for the chicken enchilada tasted like an old tortilla that was soggy from sitting in the bag too long and was used for preparation as to not throw it away. The chicken is BLAND. The crispy taco is crispy but the beef is also BLAND. Rice is clumped together and guess what? It's BLAND! Beans are okay but you can see that they were put in a blender and don't taste fresh. Probably canned and masked with better flavor than the rest of the food.Even the coffee was too weak! You can see how watery the creamer was. When I spoke to the waitress about the taste of our food, she said that no one had ever complained about their food in all the years they have been open. She never offered to let management know. I requested to speak to the owner only after I paid and he seemed shocked about our comments. My daughter and I didn't even finish our food and we usually take home leftovers. These leftovers weren't even worthy of a box to save for later!

It is hard not to like this little diner tucked into a forested area instead of being at an ugly intersection of two ugly suburban arteries. The interior is shockingly well-kept (see photo). The service is not just efficient but thoughtful. The hamburger I ordered was prepared by people who know how. My only two complaints are that the queso dip brought with my tortilla chips was microwave hot (burning your tongue isn't as much fun after the age of about 12) and the ordering is largely a la carte, and carte away your money they will. Still, the negatives are nitpicky, and I recommend it for a laid-back lunch.

Hillside cafe is a great restaurant. I had a taco and enchilada with chicken and it was delicious. I will definitely be going back. It is one of my new favorite places to eat in Manhattan. I would recommend it to anyone. The best part is that if you go with someone who doesn't like Mexican food, they also have hamburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches as well. The margarita was delicious too. I wish I could some how promote Hillside on google maps so that more people would know about it. It's that good.
