A lot of people look at these articles and think, “Insurance? That looks so boring.”Not our advisors. They have a thirst for knowledge. So they look at emerging trends and learn how to help clients find ways to fill the gaps in their insurance protection portfolio. For example, many folks are finding more and more exclusions on their policies, like home insurance in coastal areas or wildfire zones. Parametric insurance, which’s specific parameters like “if wind speeds get to X mph +, we will cover Y…” is one of those trends and potential options. You get what you pay for when you buy insurance from someone who really doesn’t care what happens to you in a claim and doesn’t take the time to learn how to best help you during that time. Our advisors read the “boring stuff” you don’t want to, because we are wired to find it fascinating.Does your advisor? If you aren’t sure, we should talk.

Creating raving fans is difficult to do, but you can start by doing the simple things right. My dad was stationed with the Army in Germany in the 60’s and traveled all over Europe. This included a several visits to Ireland and of course the Guinness Brewery (now owned by Diageo). At the end of the year after one of his first visits he received the following letter signed by their Managing Director as a thank you for visiting. A small token of appreciation to someone in an emerging market at the time that created a raving fan. I still have the framed letter for my at home bar. I just wonder how much he must’ve drank to get a personal thank you!

I feel like there’s a rush hour joke in here somewhere…Had to stop and save a turtle from getting run over today. He was a little shy and refused to pose for a selfie.🐢 🚙

If you want a master lesson in marketing, look no further than Jesse Cole and the Savannah Bananas. My wife and I were lucky enough to bring our kids to this experience at Fenway and it was nothing short of amazing with over 37,000 people coming together to just have a good time, be entertained, and be part of the entertainment. If you're look for a good "work" reading list for the Summer, I'd suggest one of Jesse's books - Fans First or Find Your Yellow Tux.We're excited that we get to take the kids again this summer in my hometown of Buffalo, NY in a few weeks when we're back for the 4th of July.

In Massachusetts you are only legally required to carry $5,000 in Property Damage, which covers if you hit someone else’s property like another car… or a house. You can purchase $100,000 or more for only a few dollars a month. I don’t know what this person’s auto insurance is, but aside from the damage to the home and oil tank there are a lot of environmental requirements for cleaning up the oil and it’s gets costly pretty quick. Check your policy, if you don’t have at least $100,000 you should consider increasing it. I carry $250,000 because it wasn’t that much more a month. We also have a $2 million umbrella policy that extends our auto and home coverage. https://lnkd.in/eTsptMKj

In the ‘90’s my dad took one of my brothers and me on a trip to France and England. We started in Paris and toured the city, then eventually drove up to Normandy to visit the battleground beaches. After that we crossed the channel and visited London and the surrounding areas. While in Normandy we saw several of the beaches where the invasions of D—Day took place, toured the cemeteries where the fallen are eternally honored, and stood on the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc where roughly 50 years prior (80 years now) Army rangers climbed over 100 feet of rock cliffs to capture and destroy heavy guns that could’ve decimated the Allied fleet in the channel. I can still remember running along the ridge lines and exploring the bunkers that these brave Allied soldiers once conquered from the Nazi army. Visiting the area, cemeteries, and museums was something that set me into the path to study America military history and European history from WWI and WWII. Today marks the 80th anniversary of those invasions. At the time of the invasion my dad was the age of my youngest son now. He was always fascinated with D-Day and the leadership and courage involved across our nation at the time. He would often tell stories of the German prisoners of war who were held at Attica. There were also Italian POW’s held at the local fair ground where he grew up. We now live in a time when roughy 60% of our nation’s high schoolers can’t recall basic facts of WWII and the Holocaust. If you have middle schoolers or high schoolers please take some time to talk to them about the significance of today and what these amazing people were fighting for. To often we see the manipulation of patriotism in the name of nationalism by certain talking heads who either don’t understand the actual history of our nation or are taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of these events. When GI Joe used to say “knowing is half the battle” they weren’t wrong. If you ever get a chance to visit France, take an extra day or two to visit these historic beaches and the surrounding memorials to those who gave all in the name of humanity.

We are growing!I am looking to add a few experienced insurance professionals to our advisor team throughout New England as we continue our expansion. We've had multiple years of record growth, increased our carrier bench, strengthened our existing carrier relationships, and expanded our sales team.Tired of only having 2 or 3 carriers to chose from?Capped from expanding into other regions due to corporate policies?Report to a manager who views you as a number?Have a book of business you are afraid to leave behind? We should have a conversation about what bringing your talent to Rogers Gray can do for your career.
