Excellence in nursing education and research
Sydney Nursing School is driving nursing education and research locally and globally. We are preparing our graduates for the changing needs of healthcare and the increasing demand for nurses in Australia.
About Sydney Nursing School
Sydney Nursing School produces graduates who have the critical thinking skills and nursing knowledge to provide the best care for people, wherever they are. Our graduates engage with and contribute to important decisions about trends in treatment, patient care and disease prevention.
Many of our staff work in frontline healthcare services, making a real difference to the healthcare landscape in Australia and internationally. Our students gain practical, hands-on experience in dedicated clinical simulation facilities on the Westmead Campus and in the Susan Wakil Health Building on the Camperdown Campus.
The newSusan Wakil Health Buildingis a purpose built facility will boast state-of-the-art simulation rooms, 4 lecture theatres and an array of other speciality spaces and equipment for our nursing students.
A total of up to 12 Susan Wakil Scholarships are offered annually by Sydney Nursing School to support the education of deserving students who demonstrate a high level of ability and potential.
Global impact
Having led curriculum development in Singapore for the past 25 years, revolutionised maternity care in Vietnam and reimagined curricula in Tonga, our global impact is clear.
Closer to home, we’re working to fight cardiovascular disease with the Charles Perkins Centre, improve cancer survival at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and develop models of care in midwifery at the Royal Hospital for Women.
